    Unhappy Asgard Sinks

    On Rte News This Morning- The Irish Sail Training Ship Asgard Sank In The Early Hours Of The Morning In The Bay Of Biscay. On Board Were 5 Crew And 20 Trainees Who Were Safely Picked Up From Liferafts By The French Coastguards. Asgard Was Built By Tyrells In Arklow And Her Loss Is A Serious Blow To The Irish Coastal Community.

    What a huge loss,
    what a beautiful vessel she was,
    remember when the tall ships were in Newcastle,
    she looked fantastic, was a great ambassador for Ireland.

    A great loss indeed.Sail training is agood way for landspeople to appreciate how the other half(well 10%)live.Now theres only the airconditioned Jeannie Johnson capable of filling the gap ,unless of course funding was provided to fully complete Dunbrody

    Faulty seacock apparently. There's a brig in Leith that's been sat for sale a loooong while which might be suitable as a replacement. She's the 'Jean de la Lune'.

    She was a fine looking vessel.

    Truly a sad loss!
