Default Billy clarkson, whitby built cobles / double Enders.

Does anyone have any info ( names, dates, locations and current location ) of any boats, cobles or double built by my grandad, billy clarkson.

More photos would be great, I'm trying to list all the boat he build and trying to find info on them.

    That's great thank you.

I know my dad said that he built quite a few hauls for people, who put the engine in themselves and the haul didn't have a name. Not sure how to trace these cobles.

Upto now, I've follow the following cobles he built:
    Audrey lass
    All my sons
    Reuben Bulmer
    Moss rose
    Gillian and Richard
    Janet Mary
    Mabel
    Renown
    Irene
    Rememberance
    Undine
    Elliot duke
    Golden crown
    Karen D
    Flora jane
    Federal star
    Star of fortune

    Also possibly
    Blue star
    Mayflower
    Friendship
    Audrey may

If it is the ex WY Mayflower that is in Paddys Hole now she was built by Gordon Clarkson and the Friendship I think, was built at Scarborough Marine
I think the Blue Star is also a Gordon build

Bob, Is the Mayflower WY201 and the Mayflower R WY237 the same coble??

Just the one that i though my grandad had built is the first Mayflower, maybe wrong tho. Was the mayflower built for laurie Murfield??

As for the friendship, on the fishingboat hertiage site, it says that the firendship SH161 was built in whitby, for charlie plummer of Scarborough. Was there possible two cobles called friendship? In my grandads accounts/records we've found not mention of the friendship sofar.

    Thanks for the info bob.

Hi Shaun yes WY.201 was Laurie Murfield's coble built by Gordon. The Federal Star dropped out of her slings in Aden and was severely damaged, when Billy was building her, (she had mast and sail), he could not find a traveller for the lugsail, to hoist it up and down the mast, I had one from my grandfathers coble and I gave it to Billy and he made me a bow bender in exchange, Ahh the good old days
