Why is it I no longer get notifications when a comment is posted on one of my photos??? There is no longer a " my messages" box??

I'm still trying to get that switched back on Dan , it wasn't put back when we rebuilt the site in January and I'm not sure why its not been put back yet.
Use the advanced search in the gallery to search by comments and 1 day and you get all comments from the last 24 hours ( or longer up to weeks if you want )
