A fishing boat has been broken into and a 2000 laptop stolen in the Borders.

On Sunday, the owner of the vessel discovered it had been entered while it was berthed at Eyemouth Harbour and the laptop was taken from the wheelhouse.

Another boat was also broken into earlier in the month although nothing had been taken.

Officers from Police Scotland think the two thefts are linked and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.

A spokesman said: "As both of these incidents occurred in the same area over a short space of time, we are carrying out numerous lines of enquiry to determine if the same individuals are responsible.

"Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around Eyemouth Harbour in the past couple of weeks is asked to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone with any further information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
