    Just following on from the comments on ally's posting of the pic of the steam drifter BF 263.
    I have from a reliable source she was originally SN 118 CHRIS & re'regd and renamed BF 263 RAMBLER ROSE in 1932. Still afloat in 2002.

    Default Chris/Rambler Rose

    I took some photos of her in Stavanger as the Engoybuen. The owner moored her just across the road from where we lived, operated her himself and used mostly for sand dredging. He used to ebb up on a sand bank, filled her with a sand by a grab and floated off again. This was Aug. 1984-85, as far as I know she was taken to germany for conversion to a yacht, not suer ever carried out.

    Some years ago I sent a photo of her to Press and Journal, and one of the last skippers phoned me when he saw her, he was in his nineties then. His descendents live in a house down at the shore at Cullen, I think her married name is Duncan, she has a number of photos of the drifter.
