    Default Nobles of Girvan

I am looking for photos of 2 boats built by Nobles The photos are to be used in a book to be published about the yard which means we must have permission from the person who owns the copyright.
The boats are, Saffron BA 187 Built 1951. Selina 11 BA 333 Built 1948. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thought you might be interested in this wheelhouse from the 1958 Nobles built JASMINE on eBay

    Hi offScotland
Thanks for your reply it is very interesting that this wheelhouse is still in such good condition after nearly 50 years. I have spoken to her owners regarding this vessel. I am very pleased that she has not gone to the scrap yard like so many others. It is sad to watch these vessels being broken up.

    Best wishes

Remember having a look at this boat in Penzance last year. Seem to think that it had previously been used for something to do with sharks or whales???

A pal who I was trying to tempt for a shed for his back garden replied with this today

"Certainly not the original wheelhouse, in fact looks like the Jasmine.

Wheelhouse built in early 70s by Matthew McDougall & Son in Carradale, similar to Harvest Queen, Silver Lining, Village Maid etc."

(Sam left a personal message for you - just under the beamer pic at the top of the page ....)

    Hello offscotland
you are correct it is not her original wheelhouse but I was told today that it came of another Nobles boat I have not found out which one yet but will let you know if I find out. I know her original owners and there families and will speek to them about this. I spent many years as an auctioneer at Ayr and know most of the people involved in the fishing industry.

sorry to prove you wrong, the wheelhouse didn't come off another nobles boat, it was built and fitted in 1976 by matt and donna McDougall in Carradale, they subsequently made one for the brother of the Jasmine's owners, for the "Girl Zena"

how do i know? we owned the Jasmine from 1973 until just before my fathers death in feb 1990, i personally worked aboard her from 1978 until late 1989, skippering her most of the period between 1984 to 1989.

i have just started building a model of the jasmine and its surprising how few picture i have of her, especially out of the water, i hope my memory is as good as i hope it is.
