The partnership of the Northbay Fishing Company, a subsidiary of Interfish, and the Wiseman Fishing Company, headed by Scottish Pelagic Fishermen’s Association (SPFA) chairman Alex Wiseman along with his son Adam Wiseman, currently operates the 64 metre pelagic vessel Resolute which is is to be renamed Artemis and will be sold as the new vessel is delivered.

While this is a new partnership, the relationship between Alex Wiseman and Interfish’s Jan Colam goes back thirty years. Alex Wiseman currently sails as skipper of Resolute and will take over command of the new Artemis on delivery.

Karstensen currently has an orderbook with ten new pelagic vessels to be delivered over the next two years.

Artemis will have a 75 metre overall length with a 15.60 metre moulded breadth, and many of the main suppliers have already been selected.

These include a Wärtsilä propulsion package and auxiliaries, including a 6100kW 10V31 main engine, continuing Alex Wiseman’s long association with Wärtsilä, as well as Karmøy deck equipment, Macgregor cranes and a Johnson Controls RSW plant.

According to the yard, the design, specification and arrangements of Artemis are the result of an extensive and close co-operation between owners and yard, with details tailored to suit the owners’ exact specifications.

The focus has been on optimising catch quality and hygiene, in order to allow new Artemis to land the highest quality products, while the working environment and the safety and comfort for the crew, have been a key focus during the design process.
