Just found out that the huge 40m Dutch beamer De Vertrouwen GO 38 is hoping to come over for this years race, to be skippered by respected local skipper Frank Gibbs on the day. The first Big Dutch beamer to come across since the Noorderhaaks in 2004.........Hope to see you there, Trev

Just found out today, race is to be cut to 1 lap of the bay this year, due to cost of fuel.....Trev

Did wonder whether it was to be run at all this year, unfortunately Trev this could be the last one:(

Reckon you are right Dazzer, unless the price of fuel falls, it wont be the end of not just the race, it will mean the end of fishing for these bigger vessels. We know what a difference it is making when we fill up the car, just multiply that by a factor of tons of fuel, and unless the increase is reflected in increased prices at fish auction, then that will be it !

Last time race was cut to 1 lap, it was in 2002. It was the World Cup and England were playing Denmark early in the afternoon. England used to play soccer in major competitions in those days..........GO PORTUGAL !!!!!!!!!!
