At 1556 today Valentia Coastguard received a call from the UK registered Spanish boat ROYALIST that she was taking water. Master decided to abandon ship,all hands went to liferafts successfully, and she sank shortly after, 200 miles West of Loop Hd Co Clare.A French vessel DAMAFRAM picked up all hands safely and took them on board where they will be put ashore in Dingle Co Kerry at approx 1800 25 Jan.

She was the Royalist FD24 , originally a side trawler of 116ft she had been converted into a gill netter and shelterdecked. 18 of a crew safe ashore thankfully
