All I have heard is that it's a 50 square mile area which will be closed for the next 3 weeks. It is a voluntary scheme for the Scottish Fleet only Henning nothing for anyone else to worry about in reality.

With this system and the onboard observers ( if a vessel has less than 5% Cod - by weight - for a trip with an observer they get credited back the days they have been at sea for their days-at-sea limitations ) has persuaded the EU Commission to allow the Scottish Parliament to allocate extra days at sea to fishermen.

It's a political decision not a conservation one, it's merely a gesture aimed at getting some quid pro quo from our masters in Brussels.
