Got couple of ideas on printing registration using decal paper but need any help. I have the decal paper and wonder can a printer print white? or do I get some other kind of decal paper, I tried wordpad but dont know how to overprint the letters so it appears shaded? Or maybe I need a particular programme? I would prefer stencils so I could paint the registration on but no luck. any ideas please. thanks.

Only a laser printer can print white as far as I know , you can buy sheets of decals numbers and letters in various sizes from some of the modelling shops. Can't remember the trade name of the decals sorry

Recently I have been using a local sign shop in Petrhead. I can get port letters printed how I need them ie Clarendon bold, italics (sloped for port and stb ) etc Also I can get circles /shields,crests etc for stem

Best is to take a photo then take to print shop with the outside dimensions reqd for the model

For the traditinal/clarendon letters I usually
a)stick them on
b)coat with clear varnish,
c) Apply the shading

If still wanting to make your own transfers then i would print on white using letters with a suround the same colour as the background

Thanks for information, that sounds like the answer, spotted a very nice model of car ferry at model show and builder had added all the lettering/numbers etc by printing on decal paper, it really made this model and the detail was brilliant.

look at this weeks front page of the fishing news , at the mainsbrite advert , cut out the ploters and radars or downsize them on your computer .
