Just wondering how many of these are left after decommisioning and some being lost. I remember someone on an earlier thread mention a book that contains information on campbeltown boats. There is the Boy Andrew, Maggie M, Ardent, Attain, Helenus, Defiant, Mizpah. Was Boy Andrew the only cruiser sterned one?

Justindel...the boats in my area left are the Ardent ( INS. 127) and Advance (INS. 77) The Advance is the ex Brererton (INS. 97) and ex Valhalla IV (LH. 184). The Andromeda (INS. 177) was decomissioned in the last round.

justindel,Don't know if you have read the book The Purse Seiners, well the authors of that book were going to take a book out on all the vessels that were built at Campbeltown, but i don't think it has been published yet as i have been kepping an eye going for it.

There were several cruiser sterners, including the Opportune

I thought the Opportune ( built as the Boy Andrew ) was the earlier Campbeltown 80 seiner class ??. I know the Boy Andrew WK171 is an 87 , the Sunbeam INS was cruiser sterned ( and a cracking sea boat from the 11 days I did on her doing a discard trip in the 1990's down at the Bergen )

I think there were 2 more but can't find my books to confirm.

Opportune WK171 built 1979 by Campbeltown Shipyard as Boy Andrew WK171 , 25.9m/85ft
Boy Andrew WK170 built 1986 by Campbeltown Shipyard , 26.61m/87ft

both have had new wheelhouses/engines in Denmark 10 or so years ago so look very similar now

The sunrise is either the 80 or 85ft seiner but she's not an 87 class
