Icelandic GRP specialist Trefjar has delivered a new Cleopatra 50, the largest design in the yard’s range, to fishing company Einhamar, based in Grindavík in the south of Iceland.

The new Vésteinn GK-88 is designed as a dedicated autoliner with an enclosed deck and a separate hauling compartment. The fishing hardware is Mustad system comprising a line hauler, hook splitter and rack storage, with deck equipment for handling catches supplied by Stálorka and an icemaker and pre-chiller from Kæling ehf.

Vésteinn is a sister vessel to Gísli Súrsson GK-8 and Auður Vésteins SU-88 that were delivered to the same owners in 2014. The company’s fleet operates within the hook management system. The midships fishroom has capacity for 41 x 460 litre tubs

The new longliner’s skipper is Theodór Ríkharðsson and the boat is fitted out to work trips if required, with a heated oilskin store, berths for a crew of five below, a well-equipped galley and a mess area on the port side of the wheelhouse, opposite the starboard side skipper’s control position. This is fitted with primarily JRC and Raymarine electronics.

Vésteinn’s main engine is an 880hp Doosan 4V222TI driving a ZF665 V-drive in the aft engine room. The genset is from Broadcrown. There are also hydraulic bow and stern thrusters coupled to the autopilot.

The deck crane for landing catches is from TMP.
